Kelsey Lauberth AND Lightning, King, Cookie, & Cody

Kelsey has had a passion for animals since she could first talk. She grew up around many non-equine animals but, every year, she would always ask her parents for a horse as a gift for every possible occasion. When she turned 11, her dad finally gave in to the begging and bought Kelsey her first horse, a mare named Sox. Much to Kelsey's surprise, her first horse became a package deal! Sox gave birth to a sorrel colt three days later after acquiring her. The little colt, named Lightning, taught Kelsey everything she knows now about horses. They have grown up together and have learned everything about each other through their experiences. Almost 15 years later, Kelsey and Lightning have become best friends and they do everything together. When Kelsey moved off to college at Missouri State University, she even brought her best friend with her.

Kelsey is a born leader and served as the President of the Horsemen's Association at Missouri State University. She competed for three years on Missouri State University’s Stock Seat and Hunt Seat Equestrian teams as well as the Ranch Horse team. She trained and used Lightning for Ranch Horse team events. When Kelsey first saw the Trixie Chicks Trick Riders perform at one of the Horsemen’s Association’s events, she became hooked for life. She spoke with the girls about joining the team and the rest is history. Kelsey started training with the Trixie Chicks in December 2012. She has since trained with many other professionals and legends in the trick riding business including Red Top Ranch Trick Riding School (w/Karen Vold, Linda Scholtz, Melissa Pfaff, Candy Rodewald & Ryan Rodewald) (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017), Austin Anderson & Texas Trick Riders (2014, 2015), Madison MacDonald (2014, 2015, 2016), Ginger Duke, Josey Lynn & Dynamite Dames (2014), J.W. Stoker (2014), Jerri & Staci Diaz (2014, 2015),  S. L & Loretta Pemberton (2016), Vicki Tyer (2016), and Rae-Lynn Armstrong (2016). In 2014, Kelsey added a palomino paint named King, a former Dixie Stampede performer, to the team. In 2015, she also purchased a horse named Cookie from Ashlee Ward, one of the team’s alumni members. King and Cookie have been a welcome addition to the Trixie Chicks line up!

Kelsey graduated in May of 2015 with a Bachelors of Animal Science with a minor in Equine Studies and an emphasis in Agricultural Communications and Business from Missouri State University. She graduated in May 2017 with a Masters of Education in Equestrian Education. As of October 2016, Kelsey took a huge jump in her career and now pursues trick riding performances, clinics, and lessons FULL TIME!!!
